Sarita's Bio
Sarita began training in ballet at the young age of four in George Brown's children's program. Sarita also trained at Randolph Academy's open program in Jazz, Modern and Hip
Hop, and began her training in Belly Dance at Arabesque Academy with
Yasmina Ramzy, Denise Mireau and Saba Alemayehu. In 2007 she
completed Arabesque Professional Course and later that year joined
the Arabesque Dance Company and Orchestra. In 2010 Sarita studied
with master Egyptian teachers for six weeks in Cairo, Egypt. In 2011
& 2013 Sarita trained intensively for four months in Cuba with
the Afro-Cuban dance company FUZION, and since then has created her
own blend of bellydance and diverse Cuban styles called “latinbelly”.
Sarita was a senior instructor at Arabesque Academy from 2007-2015.
She also taught Middle Eastern Folklore courses from 2009-2011 at
Fleming College's Haliburton School of the Arts summer program.
Sarita joined Arabesque Dance Company in 2007 and was proud to be a
lead dance artist in three of their stage productions at Fleck Dance
Theatre, as well as part of their tour of Western Canada. She is a Belly Dance soloist in the GTA, and performance
highlights include dancing onstage with Wyclef Jean. TV credits
include Wedding SOS and Dragon's Den. Sarita is a member of the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists as well as the Canadian Dance Assembly. She brings her passion and love for dance and music to
all her classes and performances.
